Unusual types of blackjack - why are they disadvantageous to the player?

While casinos don’t offer such exotics very often, online casinos offer a variety of very unusual and bold variations to the casino rules that are sure to entice patrons. What does this lead to? Some players prefer to move away from classic blackjack and turn their attention to these very novelties. And it’s a shame, because losses are literally happening one after another.

The purpose of this publication is to keep you from all sorts of rash actions. Let’s take a look at some unusual types of blackjack, which are very popular on the Internet these days.

First things first – Blackjack Switch

Blackjack Switch is one of the most common forms of the game today. We have two boxes at our disposal, and the key advantage of the switch is to change the second cards dealt by the dealer between these boxes.

Let’s say you get a seven in box 1, and then you get a ten.

  • The 17 points received in these cards would put a serious choice before the player.
  • Ending the set is risky, because the dealer will win in any case, except, unless it’s overkill.
  • However, asking for one more card is just as dangerous – too great a chance to end up with more than 21 points.

Let’s say the player has a nine and a three in the second box.

  • They end up with 12 points, and that’s not a good card, either.
  • If you swap the cards between boxes, the first box will have only 9 points, but the second will have 20.
  • The rest is simple: we take one more card in the first box, and close the second one.

Does that mean that the gambling establishment itself has given the player an advantage in blackjack? No matter what – you’ll have to pay for such an advantage and at a very serious price.

Probably the most unpleasant thing is that 22 points won’t bring the dealer an overshoot. In that case, the casino declares a draw (but only if you don’t have blackjack). Thus, the advantage of the gambling establishment increases by at least 10%, it is not difficult to calculate. The winnings have also undergone serious changes – the player’s blackjack will be paid at a ratio of 1 to 1 instead of 3 to 2. Thus, the advantage of the gambling establishment increases by several percent more.

Exchanging cards

On the plus side, of course, the disadvantageous rules are compensated by the possibility of exchanging cards between booths, but the overall advantage of the casino in blackjack is much higher than compared to classic games and you should keep that in mind. If you can win some money in the short run, you can’t win in the long run. Choose classic blackjack.

Another disadvantageous variety is Double Exposure

Literally, the name of this blackjack variant translates to “double exposure,” and it’s worth noting that the name is the essence of the game. The main difference from the classic is that the dealer deals not one, but two cards at once in the open, which may seem to seriously affect the player.

Hopefully, you won’t be so naive as to think that the casino will simply give away its advantage in favor of the player?

The most important thing is the size of the payout. Versus the traditional 3 to 2, blackjack will be paid out at a ratio of 1 to 1. If the croupier and the player have an equal number of points, then the gambling establishment wins (the exception is if the player has blackjack).

Of course, the above types of blackjack have their own strategies to help the player make a decision in this or that situation. Keep in mind that they won’t give the player any advantage over the gambling establishment. But these games, it is worth saying, can bring variety to everyday gambling, so try Double Exposure and Switch is definitely worth it. But only in demo mode or on microlimits.
